How long is each class?
Our classes last from 50 to 60 minutes approximately .

What equipment do I need for taking classes?
These are the technical requirements you need:
1) Internet connection, either through cable modem, WIFI, or your mobile phone data plan
2) A desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone
3) Headphones with microphone
4) Skype account
Where should I be in order to take the classes?
You can be anywhere as long as you have internet connection.
What is the teaching methodology?
Our teaching methodology is 100% conversational. The topic of the lesson will always be introduced by the teacher in such a way that you will be able to participate and speak from day 1. Likewise, our classes include listening, reading, and writing exercises, depending on the topic.
Will the teacher correct my pronunciation?
Yes. The teacher will model the right pronunciation of the vocabulary and will help you to produce any sounds that you may find difficult at the beginning, particularly if they don’t exist in your native language.
Can I learn faster than in conventional classes?
Learning individually or in a small group of no more than 4 students increases your chances of making progress faster in comparison with conventional classes in which you don’t always have the opportunity to speak.
Are the classes 100% in English?
Yes. Our classes are taught 100% in English. However, our teaching platform provides translation of the vocabulary into different languages, including Spanish.
Are teachers native speakers of English?
Our teachers are both native and non-native speakers of English; and all of them have ample teaching experience, academic studies, and certifications in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, etc.)
Are the native teachers from North America?
Our native teachers come from a variety of English speaking countries, including the United States of America, Canada, and the UK, among others.
Do I have to pay for registration?
No. You don’t have to pay for registration.
Do I need to buy books?
No. You don’t need to buy any books. You will get a summary at the end of every lesson, which you will be able to access from your student account in our platform.
Do I have to do homework?
Yes. At the end of each lesson, the teacher will send you homework that consists of a short practice in our platform in order to review the topics learned during the lesson.
Do I have to take exams?
Yes. You should take an exam at the end of each level in order to assess your knowledge of the topics studied and that you are ready for the next level.
What levels do you have?
Our levels are: beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, and advanced.
How long does it take to complete each level?
The length of the program will depend on your level of proficiency when you start taking classes as well as your progress. This is the approximate duration of all levels:
a) Beginner: 3 months
b) Elementary: 5 months
c) Pre-Intermediate: 10 months
d) Intermediate: 6 months
e) Upper Intermediate: 4 months
f) Advanced: 6 months
Will a get a certificate when I finish my studies?
If you want, we can give you a certificate stating lesson hours and levels completed.
What does the placement test consist of?
It consists of 100 questions to assess your knowledge of grammar and it takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
Do I have to pay for the placement test?
No. The placement test is free of charge.
What does the trial class consist of?
The trial class is a short 20-minute class in which we will show you our methodology, explain the results of your placement test, and address any questions you may have.
Do I have to pay for the trial class?
No. The trial class is free.
Are the classes always going to be on the same days and at the same time?
If you selected a plan with private or group classes, your classes will always take place on the same days and the same time. For instance, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. If you selected a plan with private tutoring, you can have each of your classes on a different day and time if you wish.
What is the difference between private classes and private tutoring?
Private classes are offered in a monthly plan, in which you can take 4 classes per week during a month. In the private tutoring plan, you can choose from 3 to 10 classes, and you have a maximum of three months to take all the classes.
Why do I have to indicate as many available schedule options as possible?
If you select a plan with private classes, we need to assign you to a teacher who is available during your preferred schedule. Likewise, if you select a plan with group classes, we need to assign you to a group with other students who are at the same level and who are also available at the same time.
What is the method of payment?
You can make a bank transfer to Banco de Costa Rica or Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, or pay using Paypal. If you use Paypal, you can pay using your Paypal account balance, your bank account, debit, or credit card.
